Sports
Fuerteventura is perfect for watersports of all kinds, from swimming off miles of sandy beaches - two were awarded Blue Flags in 2002 - to windsurfing, surfing, sailing, kite surfing and scuba diving.

The island is a mecca for windsurfers. In July, Fuerteventura hosts the Professional Windsurfing Association world windsurfing speed and slalom event at Sotavento in the South. In the autumn and winter, surfers exploit the large Atlantic swells that roll onto the north and western coasts. Spring and summer has traditionally been the sailing season, but kite surfing has become increasingly popular for people looking for adrenaline sports.

There is also the Round Fuerteventura Kayak Race and the Swim between Isla de Lobos to Corralejo. Hiking, horse riding, camel trips, golf and mountain biking are just some of the land activities on offer for people who enjoy action-packed leisure time, while those in search of a day out can hop aboard the ferry to Lanzarote, which departs regularly from Corralejo.
